Revision of the Mini-Gastric Bypass Operations for weight loss commonly fail. Even the Mini-Gastric Bypass, which has a very high success rate can fail. Failure is defined and loss of to little weight or loss of to much weight, leading to illness and weakness. Fortunately revision of the Mini-Gastric Bypass is relatively easy. As of 9/18/2000 we have revised 6/874 for excess weight loss (0.7%) and three (0.34%) for additional weight loss (one who had already lost ~200 lbs and wished for more.) In these cases the surgery could be performed laparoscopically and took less than an hour. The pictures below describe the surgical procedure for revision of the Mini-Gastric Bypass for additional weight loss.
1	After placing the 5 "ports" this is the view of the abdomen. The stomach "pouch" can be seen between the two instruments. The "Loop" of small bowel can be seen on the lower right hand of the picture. Op Time: 4 minutes
2	The "GIA" stapler is used to divide the stomach pouch from the loop of small bowel. The stomach pouch is above the stapler and the loop of bowel is below. Op Time: 10-15 minutes
3	This shows the divided stomach separated from the loop of bowel on the right lower side of the picture. Estimated Op Time: 20 minutes
4	The stomach is once again connected to the bowel. The bypassed stomach is under the liver and not seen. The loop and the opening left by the stapler are seen on the lower right of the picture. Estimated Op Time: 25-30 minutes
5	The new Revised Mini-Gastric Bypass completed. The new stomach is hidden under the liver on the upper left, The stapled connection can be seen and the loop is on the lower right. The Revision is now completed. Estimated Op Time: 45 minutes
