Dear Dr. R,

Unfortunately I never have had the pleasure of sitting and chatting with you Dr. R. I have however had the pleasure of listening to you speak at one of our monthly seminars in Bay City.

I had the surgery on Aug. 23. Kim and Dr. D are fabulous. The hospital staff was amazing, treating me like I was the only patient they had to look after. This in itself is unprecedented in the world of the over weight. Usually we are shunned or worse, looked over, and made to feel inadequate at every turn.

People think we're deaf, weak and stupid. Not true, but you know that I'm sure.

Anyway to the reason for this email. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for teaching Dr. D to do this surgery.

     It is a miracle.

It is a blessing. It is an answer finally for those of us who have suffered ridicule and impossibilities our entire lives.

I weighed 315 pounds and am 5'1" tall. In 90 days I lost 78 pounds! I am healthier and happier than I've ever been in my overweight life.

My children and husband are amazed and thankful.

I am a firm believer that the tool you have given me and many others will save my life. I have been a fast loser. This I believe, is due to exercise and food choices and supplements.

I take everything you recommend. I DO everything by the book (manual). I drink NO coffee, tea, alcohol and take NO medications except Prilosec, Pepto Bismol, Tums and Actigall. I walk 1-5 miles every day, no exceptions and I do strength training 4 days a week. I have lifted weights for years. It keeps me strong enough to carry all this weight.

I feel wonderful. I can't say that enough.

I hated the packet but now that it's all said and done I can't tell you how powerful it makes me feel to know literally EVERYTHING about keeping myself well through this life altering endeavor. My life has changed drastically. For the better. I've had to make physical changes, nutritional changes, mental changes and attitude changes.

I like helping everyone who has questions about this surgery. I love to teach. Our next meeting Kim asked me to teach strength training. At 51yrs of age, my skin won't "snap" back on it's own. This will help. People don't realize that they lose muscle first. I take the L-Glutamine and Creatine religiously. I have a good friend who is a national champion weight lifter and I try and emulate his strength training practices always.

When I weighed 200 pounds at 22yrs old I was muscled and firm. When I weighed 200lbs at 40+ I was much bigger. I know I lost muscle and gained it all back as fat, over and over and this is what happens. You can't "gain" muscle, you have to build it. Vicious cycle that so many of us get locked into. Just before my surgery I decided to never diet again. It only meant, deprivation, mental struggle, weight gain and stress every time.

I would have NEVER considered wls in a million years. I have seen loads of people have wls and every time gain it back because they are NOT educated like we MGB'ers are. I tell them all now, go to the CLOS website and READ THE MANUAL! It can't hurt you, it can only help.

Thank you for the manual. Thank you for the surgery. Thank you for saving my life and the lives of so many. Thank you for curing my asthma, restless legs syndrome, arthritis, fatigue, personal hygiene issues, weak bladder, sexual functions, dry skin, borderline diabetes and sleep apnea.

God Bless and keep you Dr. Rutledge. I will be eternally grateful and thankful to you!
